Will of Love Statham, 1781 - Louisa Co. VA Louisa Co. Will Book 2, p. 387 In the name of God Amen: I Love Statham of the County of Louisa and of Parish of Trinity being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, Thanks be given to God do make and ordain and appoint this my last will and testament as follows laying all other wills aside. It is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid. Item: I give to my beloved wife one feather bed and furniture and the safe - one negro girl named Phillis and her increase to be at her will and disposal and to give to each of my children or grandchildren as she may think best and the remainder part of my estate both real and personal I lend to my wife during her life. Item: I give to my daughter Jane Haley one hundred acres of land she now lives on. Item: To my son-in-law Stephen Hunter one hundred and twenty five acres of land which has been laid off to him already. Item: To grandson William Dabney Statham one negro boy named Jack until he comes of lawful age I give the said William Dabney Statham the said negro boy as his right and property forever in case he dies before he is of age or marries I then give the negro boy to my grandson Cornelius Umphrey and his heirs forever. Item: To my daughter Sarah Umphrey one negro wench named Beck and her increase during her natural life and at her death I then give said negro wench and her increase to such of my daughters children as shall be living at her death and desire that all of my estate except said negro boy Jack that I give to my grandson William Dabney Statham, both real and personal and what kind so ever be at the death of said wife equally divided among each of my children and their representatives as I now mention, viz. Elizabeth Hardwick, John Statham, Ann Eastham and to my daughter Jane Haley I only give to her her equal portion of my personal estate as I have before willed her what I think is her proportion of my land and to my daughter Sarah I only give to her an equal part of my lands and my other estate except the negro as I have given to her and her heirs her full portion of them. To my son Charles Statham, to the children of my dearest daughter Mary Hunter and to the children of my deceased daughter Mildred Humphrey by name Martha Humphrey to them and their heirs forever. Item: It is my will and request that my sons John and Charles Statham as executors and my beloved wife Martha Statham as executors to this my last will and testament.
