Boykin Cemetery Location: East of Kenbridge, Virginia, on Route #34, 4.6 miles, thence 5 miles on Route #614. Lunenburg County, Virginia DATE: 1822. OWNERS: J. R. Showalter. (1937) DESCRIPTION: There is a large open field with a wire fence around it, and the graves have some very pretty stones at the head of each, but it is neglected. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The inscriptions on the tombstones as follows: In Loving Memory of William Herbert Jones Born Feb. 22, 1822 Died Jan. 18, 1899 The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want Gone Home to Rest In Loving Memory of James William Jones Born May 4, 1838 Died July 23, 1906 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith, Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, Which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. In Memory of John Richard Peace Born Dec. 22, 1846 Died Dec. 12, 1894 Resting in hope of a glorious resurrection, Thou wert beloved, None ever knew, None here could have known well, and hearts sincere, and warm and true, Will ever love the still.
