All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Margaret Ogilvie scopete@msn.com September 9, 2006, 3:25 pm Written: February 8, 1796 Recorded: February 11, 1796 Deed Blackstone and Elizabeth Abernathy to Frederick Moss 8 Feb. 1796 Lunenburg Co., VA Deed Book 17, p. 184 This indenture made this 8th day of February in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand seven Hundred and Ninety six, Between Blackstone Abernathy and Elizabeth his wife of the County of Lunenburg of the one part and Frederick Moss of the same County of the other part, Witnesseth that the said Blackstone and Elizabeth for and in consideration of the just and full Sum of one Hundred Pounds Current Money of Virginia to the said Blackstone and Elizabeth in hand paid by the said Frederick at and before the signing and delivery of these presents, Receipt whereof we the said Blackstone & Elizabeth his wife do hereby acknowledge from the said Frederick and Thereby do fully exonerate him Therefrom do hereby bargain sell, enfeoff, deliver and confirm unto the said Frederick Moss his heirs and assigns forever, one certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Lunenburg on the Branches of Meherrin River, and Bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at a corner dogwood on Hawkins Creek, Thence along John Hawkins line to the said Hawkins corner Red oak, Thence along the said Hawkins line to his corner Red oak, Thence along said Hawkins line to William Masons corner Pine Thence along the said Masons line to Almanis Estes corner sweet gum on the Branch, Thence down the said Branch to Rennison Tisdales corner dogwood on the said Branch, Thence along the said Tisdales line to a corner Black gum on Hawkins Creek, Thence up the said Creek to the Beginning, containing by estimation one hundred and eighty two acres of land be the same more or less, together with woods, underwoods, water watercourses Houses fences and orchards, with all and every appurtenances in any manner Thereto belonging or in any wise Thereunto annexed, and we the said Blackstone and Elizabeth his wife do for ourselves our heirs Executors & administrators covenant to and with the said Frederick Moss his heirs and assigns forever, to warrant and forever defend the right and title peaceable and enjoyment of the above bargained and sold land unto the said Frederick Moss his heirs and assigns forever, in fee simple to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Frederick Moss his heirs and assigns forever, against us our heirs Executors administrators and assigns all lawful claim or demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof we said Blackstone Abernathy Elizabeth Peterson Abernathy hath set our hands and seals the day and year first above written.
