LUNENBURG COUNTY, VIRGINIA - DEED BOOK 43 PAGE 120 - LUNENBURG COUNTY, VA - 04 JANUARY 1881 This Deed made this 4th day of January 1881, between John D. Bell and Mary F. his wife of the 1st part and Silas J. Drake of the second part. Witnesseth: In consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars cash or its equilivent in hand paid and the sum of Fifty dollars secured to be paid by two bonds of twenty five dollars each bearing the date with this writing and bearing six percent interest from date one payable the 1st day of January 1882 and the other payable on the 1st day of January 1883, the said John D. Bell and Mary F. his wife as aforesaid doth grant bargain sell and convey and by these present hath granted bargained sold and conveyed with little of general warranty subject herein to the ....line for the balance of the purchase money. One hundred thirteen and one fourth acres of land situated in Lewiston township, Lunenburg County and is a part of the original tract of land owned by Chas W. Keeton & is the accurate lot or parcel of land conveyed by and from John D. Bell & wife to Wm. M. & Benjamin H. Walker & subsequently conveyed by them to John D. Bell. Bell, a Notary Public in and for the County aforesaid as hereby certify that John D. Bell whose name is signed to the foregoing writing bearing date on the 4 th day of January 1881, personally appeared before me in my County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed. And I do further certify that Mary F. Bell, wife of John D. Bell, whose name is also signed thereto personally appeared before me in my county aforesaid and being examined by me ...and apart from her husband and having the forgoing writing fully explained to her she the said Mary F. Bell, wife of said John D. Bell acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and declared that she had executed the same willingly and does not wish to retract it. Drake of the second part all of the County of Lunenburg & State of Virginia, Witnesseth: That the said party of the 1st part for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty ($250) dollars cash in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath sold and by these presents doth grant sell bargain & convey unto the said Silas J. Drake and his heirs and assigns forever this title of general warranty, all of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Lunenburg in the State of Virginia and bounded and described as follows, on the North by lands formerly owned by P. O.Robertson on the east by the lands now held by H. M. Allen & wife on the south by the lands of the late J. R. Gary and on the west by J. D. Bell and containing One hundred and thirteen acres be the same more or less. Witness the following signature and seal this day and date first herein written. J. J. DRAKE (Silas James DRAKE) to wife - Mary E. (WALKER) DRAKE This Deed made this the 3rd day of May, 1889, between S. J. Drake party of the first part and Mary E. Drake wife of the said S. J. Drake party of the second part all of Lunenburg County, Virginia. Witnesseth: That said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars, doth grant, bargain sell and convey unto the said Mary E. Drake for and during the time of her natural life and at her death to the children of the said S. J. and Mary E. Drake, his wife, in fee simple, all of that certain tract or parcel of land lying in Lunenburg County, VA it being the same upon which the said party of the first part now resides, and containing 11.3 acres be the same more or less. But this deed is made subject to a trust deed executed by the party of the first part to Wm Walker, trustee to secure a debt due Tho Cooksey of $50. dated, December 14th 1888.
