George the second &c To all &c Know ye that for divers good causes and
consideration
but more especially for and in Consideration of the sum of Twenty
Shillings of good
and lawful Money for our use paid to our Receiver General of our Revenues
in this our
Colony and Dominion of Virginia We have Given Granted & Confirmed and by
these
Presents for us our Heirs and Successors Do Give Grant and Confirm to
Thomas Pruet
one certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing one hundred and eighty
Acres lying and
being in the County of Lunenburgh on the South side of Catawber Creek and
bounded as
followeth, to wit, Beginning at a Great red Oak on the Creek thence South
sixty Degrees
East sixty two Poles to a great white Oak thence South nine degrees East
two Hundred and
ninety Poles to a small white Oak Thence South fifty five degrees East
twenty four Poles
to a white Oak thence North eighty four degrees east ninety four Poles to
a black Oak.
thence South nine degrees West one hundred and thirty poles to an Elm on
the Creek thence
down the said Creek as it Meanders to the beginning With all &c To have
hold &c To be
held &c Yielding and Paying &c Provided &c In Witness &c Witness our
Trusty and Welbeloved Robert Dinwiddie Esq. our Lieut Governor and
Commander in
chief of our said Colony and Dominion at Williamsburgh under the seal of
our said Colony
the tenth day March MDCCLVI, in the twentyninth year of our Reign
