I should have been to see you, but do not think it would be prudent to travel so far by private conveyance, And I had rather not go on the cars, as guards go with every train to arrest all men under 40 years old who attempt to pass, and send them to the Army. I wrote to Dr. Wilson sometime ago, sending him a blank receipt but gess he did not get it. We had no mail here then for several days. (remainder of line unreadabale due to fold and tear) Enclosed find a receipt. Tell Capt. Burton to pay you the amount which you will please keep until I call for it And if I never come for it, pay it Frannie, Be____ Yours __, A Chop/Choss
