R. Love Lunenburg" for "Sect 1__ __________ dollars, Being the amount due you for commutation, &c., under the act of the General Assembly approved February 14, 1882. I am very respectfully, "J. S. Coleman" S. Brown Allen, Auditor of Public Accounts Page 2 "D. R. Love" $60.00 Page 3 Lunenburg County Court December 8th, 1879 On the application of D. R. Love (who is engaged in the lumber business) who this day applied to the Court for a certificate to receive commu- tation as a disabled Soldier in the late Confederate War. Said D. R. Love appeared in Court and after being duly sworn according to law, states that he was wounded at Culpepper Court House Va on the 23rd of Sept. 1863 or 1864. (he does not remembre which) in the left shoulder that he is not [underlined] entirely disabled, but cannot carry anything at all on that shoulder, that tho whole ca__? of his shoulder is shot off and he is not as strong as forerly. and cannot use his arm in a bent condition. though can lift tolerably well when he can use his arm straight. that in damp weather he suffers very much with said wound and its ___?___ him unfit for labor.
