File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Ed Dolan In the name of God Amen, I James Hamlett of Lunenburg County being weak of body but sound mind and meory do make and publish this my last will and Testament in the manner and form following, towit [?], I lend to my beloved wife Obedience Hamlett, the Tract of land whereon I now live, containing Four hundred acres during her natural life; I also lend unto my said wife nine negroes viz. Cats, Bob, Joe, Jean, Amy, Sarah, Silvey, Archer and Edy, during her natural life. I also to my said wife all my stock of all kinds, of horses, cattle, hogs, and sheep, and all my household goods, and kitchen furniture, and utensils, during her natural life, likewise all the Grain on said plantation; and after her death, the said negroes, and their future increase, and stock of all kinds, shall be divided, as hereafter mentioned. Item. I give and bequeath to my son James Hamlett six hundred acres of land, whereon he now lives in the County of Charlotte on Twitty's Creek, to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my son William Hamlett, the tract of land whereon I now live, containing four hundred acres to him and his heirs forever. Item. I lend to my daughter, Hannah Collier, one negro woman named Betty and all her increase during her natural life, and after the death of my daughter Hannah Collier, the negro woman Betty and all her increase which I lend to be equally divided, among all her children, and their heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson William Collier, after the death of my wife, one negro woman named Silvey, to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my grandson Hamlett Collier, after the death of my wife, one negro boy named Isaac, to him and his heirs forever. Item. I give unto my daughter Lucy Ingram, after the death of my wife, one fourth part of all my estate during her natural life and then to be equally divided among all her children, to them and their heirs forever. And after the death of my beloved wife, all the residue and remainder of my estate not mentioned shall be equally divided among three of my children, viz. James Hamlett, William Hamlett and Hannah Collier, to them and their heirs forever. Item. I constitute and appoint my beloved wife Obedience Hamlett, James Hamlett, William Hamlett and Thomas Jeffress executors to this my last will and Testament. Karon Bayne, 1803 ========================= Lunenburg Co., VA will of Karon Bayne Lunenburg County, Virginia Will Book 6, Page 52 In the name of God, Amen, I Karon Bayne of the County of Lunenburg and the State of Virginia, Being in a low state of health, but in my perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament. Item I give and bequeath to my son Mathew P. Bayne the tract of land whereon I now live to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son George L. Bayne, a small piece adjoining which I purchased of Thomas Peters and a tract adjoining which I purchased of William Smith to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son John D. Its my will and desire that if any one of my Children they or their heirs should clam or contend with my son Daniel for the land aforesaid willed to him in any manner whatsoever. Its my will and desire that there and in that case pay unto him the sum of Five Hundred Pounds each as a full compensation for the aforesaid land. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Fanny Bayne and Elander Bayne the tract of land lying in Charlotte County on the waters of the Horse Pen Creek, it being the land formerly the property of Abraham Vaughan decd. And which I purchased of Edmund P. Bacon. Item It is my will and desire that the Balance of my Estate be kept together by my Executors until anyone of my children marry or my son Matthew P. The slaves were divided amongst the six children in 1805 each receiving a number of slaves valued at L205.16.8. I lend to my daughter in law Catharine Gee the Negroes of mine she has in her possession and other personal Estate, to her during her life or widowhood, and the land she she now lives on, I lend to her during her life or widowhood also, and at the death or marriage of the said Catharine Gee, my Will and desire is that the above Negroes and other personal property with their increase, be equally divided between Catharine Gees four daughters, Letty, Elizabeth and Dolly & Nancy, ald also my will and desire is at the death or marriage of Catharine Gee the above mentioned land to be for the use of Catharine Gees four daughters, Letty, Elizabeth, Dolley and Nancy while they live single, and continue on it, if either of the four daughters should marry, shall have no claim in the said land, and at the death marriage or removal of the four daughters Letty, Elizabeth, Dolley & Nancy, my desire is that the said Land should go to my son George Gee, his heirs and assigns forever. 6th. I give and bequeath unto my son Lucas Gee the tract of land, he now lives on and all the other property, he has in his possession and two tracts of land, one I bought of Curtis Hardy (lying on Bookers road) and the other of John Bailey, its the land that lies on Haggards path, where Benjamin Winn once lived, and one Negroe named Ned, to him and his heirs forever. 7th. I give and bequeath unto my son George Gee two negroes named George and Velate, which he has in his possession, to him and his heirs forever. 8th. I give and bequeath to my son Neavil Gee the tract of Land whereon he now lives, and three Negroes named, Silvy, Old Farn, and Maria, to him and his heirs forever. Also the plantation utensils, of every kind, that he has in his possession. 9th. I Give and bequeath to my son James Gee all the property of mine he has in his possession, or has had, since he lived in Kentucky, to him & his heirs forever. 10th. I Give and bequeath to my son Reuben Gee the tract of Land, Inow live on, three negroes named Toby (an old man) Cate and Hogs, ten head of sheep, out of the home stock, two Beds, and their furniture coopers tools, all the kitchen furniture, one half of the Fodder & Corn, and all the plantation utensils of every kind, to him and his heirs forever, provided my son Reuben or any other person should raise any account against my estate or me on the account of the Negroes, that my son Reuben has had in his possession; working on my plantation, my desire is that the amount of the be taken out of his Legacy. 11th. I Lend to my Grand daughter Elizabeth Andrews, daughter of Drury Andrews, one negroe named Barbary, one Bed & furniture and one Side Saddle to her during her life and at her death to go (with the increase of said Negroe to the heirs of her body if she has any thats lawfully begotten, and if none my desire that the Negroe, Barberry with her increase Bed and furniture, and Saddle, be equally divided between five of my children, Jones, Amey, Lucas, Neavil and Reuben. 12th. My will and desire is after my just debts be paid, the rest of my property that I have not Willed away be equally divided, divided among my six children, Jones, Amey, George, Lucas, Neavil & Reuben. And Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint, my sons Jones Gee and Lucas Gee, to be my Executors to this my last Will and Testament, and my desire is there be no appraisement, nor Inventory of my Estate. My desire is that my sons or daughters that are not of age, come of age (sons to the age of Twenty One Years, or daughters to the age of Eighteen Years), or marry, their part willed shall be given to them in __??__. 10th. My will and desire is that the land I now live on, shall be divided, into three equal parts and the choice of said parts, to be kept by my wife for her use, during her lifetime, and then go to Edward T. which I now give him after my wifes death.
