September 14, 1862 In the 31st year of his age The only son of his mother and she was a widow. Maurice H. Garland died Sept. 14, 1840 aged 57 Lucinda Rose widow of Spottswood Garland died 1851 Paulina H. wife of Butt Garland died 1828 aged 16 Burr Garland Born 1800 died 1869 Samuel Garland, Sr. born in Albemarle County, May 5, 1789 died in Coahoma County, Miss., Nov. 10, 1861 Lucinda Rose, widow of Spottswood Garland, was a daughter of Robert Rose and granddaughter of Hugh Rose of “Geddos” in Amherst County, and they were the parents of Caroline M. Garland, the mother of Gen. Samuel Garland.
