BALLOONIST KILLED

Wind Carries Him Against Trees and His Neck Is Broken


Lynchburg, Va., June 25 -- Walter Steele, traveling balloonist, met a tragic 
death Wednesday in the presence of an immense crowd of spectators while 
attempting an ascension at Rivermont Park.  Just as the main body of the balloon 
reached the tops of the trees it was struck by a strong gust of wind, and the 
aeronaut was hurled with tremendous force against a limb, his neck being broken.
