Tunison Cemetery Location: One block east of Madison Court House Madison County, Virginia DATE: 1820, date of oldest grave. OWNERS: Church. DESCRIPTION: The graveyard at one time was grown up with bushes to such an extent that the entire graveyard had to be grubbed, and now it is almost back to that same point. There are to be found in the graveyard, other than the one readable stone, which dated prior to 1865, several bricked-up mounds, but these have no inscriptions, nor anything to show whose graves these might be. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Beneath this marble reposes the mortal remains of Jane Campbell Allison who was born 8th of August A.D. 1798 and died the 21th of Nov. 1820 – age 22 In the morning of life just entered into the dearest and tenderest earthly connection and the fair prospects before her of many happy days, the victim of the insatrate, destroy or could the bloom of youth, loviness of person and the charm of amiability have saved her from death, could the anxiety of attached friend and the love of a devoted husband, have sheilded her from the frost of his influence she would not now mould beneath the clod of the valley. The way of God is mysterious and blessed be his holy name. This tone is standing and is of tablet shape, which has the following: In memory of G.
