Deed transaction: Joel Hurt and his wife Nancy to Bluford Corbin Madison Co., Virginia, Deed Book 7, p. 134-135 [LDS Microfilm # 0032582] Recorded 24 May 1821 This Indenture made this twentieth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one between Joel Hurt and Nancy his wife, of the County of Madison & State of Virginia, of the one part, and Bluford Corbin of the County and State af'd of the other part, Witnesseth that the s'd Joel Hurt and Nancy his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars, to them in hand paid by the s'd Bluford Corbin before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge, and themselves therewith, fully satisfied and paid. Have bargained and sold, given and transferred, and by these presents, do bargain and sell, give, transfer and confirm, unto the said Bluford Corbin, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain parcel of land, containing about eight acres (more or less) being the same land that the s'd Joel Hurt bought of the s'd Bluford Corbin, bounded as follows (Viz). Beginning at a gum standing near a drain at the s'd Corbin's line, thence with his line to some chesnuts sprouts, in the s'd line, thence with another of his lines to a mahogany on a branch at Will Hurt's line thence with his lines to a yew tree & gum on the s'd branch at the s'd Corbin's line, th, with his line to the Beginning, with all the estate, rights, title & interest, whatsoever thereunto belonging, To have and to hold the s'd land, unto him, the s'd Bluford Corbin, his heirs and assigns forever. And the s'd Joel Hurt and Nancy his wife and their heirs, shall and will warrant, and by these presents forever defend, the s'd land and premises, with the appurtenances thereunto belonging, unto him the said Bluford Corbin, his heirs and assigns, freed and cleared, exonerated and discharged off, and from, all former estates, rights, titles, debts, dowers, executions, or incumbrances whatsoever. This Indenture of bargain and sale between Joel Hurt and Nancy his wife of the one part and Bluford Corbin of the other part, was produced into the Office and proved by the oaths of Dennis Corbin, James Hurt and William Hurt witnesses thereto, whereupon the same was admitted to record.
