Madison Co., VA - Deed: Moses Smith to Dennis Corbin 1817 Deed transaction: Moses Smith and Nancy his wife and Fielding Smith and Betsey his wife to Dennis Corbin Madison Co., VA, Deed Book 6, p. 198-199 [LDS Microfilm # 0032582] Recorded 11 September 1817 This Indenture made this twelfth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen between Moses Smith and Nancy his wife and Fielding Smith and Betsey his wife of the county of Madison and commonwealth of Virginia of the one part, and Dennis Corbin of the county and commonwealth aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Moses Smith and Nancy and Fielding Smith and Betsey his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid by the said Dennis Corbin before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and themselves therewith fully satisfied and paid, have bargained and sold, given and transferred, and by these presents do bargain and sell, give, transfer and confirm unto the said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns forever a certain parcel of Land containing forty acres (more or less) lying in the County of Madison and is bounded as follows (Viz) Beginning at two chesnut oaks corner to a patent formerly granted to Archibald Dick, and running thence with the Patent line South fifty degs. West one hundred & eight poles to a Spanish oak and hickory corner to Bluford Corbin thence ------------- ---- his down a drain the several courses thereof one hundred and four poles to a Spanish --- ------- a small gum on a branch of [Beeker?] back run, thence down the said branch forty --- - poles to a Spanish oak and two hicories at or near the patent line thence with the patent line North fifty degs. West seventy two poles to the Beginning, with all estate, rights, titles and interest whatsoever thereunto belonging. To have and to hold unto him the said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns forever and the said Moses Smith and Nancy his wife and Fielding Smith and Betsey his wife and their heirs shall and will warrant and by these presents forever defend the said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns, freed and cleared, exonerated and discharged off and from all former estates, rights, titles, debts, dowers, executions or incumbrances whatsoever.
