Madison Co., VA - Deed: Rowland Yowell to Dennis Corbin - 1831 Deed transaction: Rowland Yowell and Sarah his wife to Dennis Corbin Madison Co., Virginia, Deed Book 11, p. 49-51 [LDS Microfilm # 0032584] Recorded 7 November 1831 This Indenture made this 19th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, between Rowland Yowell and Sarah his wife of Madison County and State of Virginia of the one part and Dennis Corbin of the afores'd County and State of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Rowland Yowell and Sarah his wife for & in consideration of the sum of sixty dollars of lawful money of this commonwealth to them in hand paid by the said Dennis Corbin at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they the said Rowland Yowell & Sarah his wife do hereby acknowledge and with which they agree to be fully satisfied, have bargained and sold and by these presents, do and each of them doth bargain and sell unto said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns a certain lot or tract of land lying and being in the County of Madison adjoining the lands of Leo & Henry Barnes(?), Strother Lillard & corner to Dennis Lillard and bounded as follows (to wit) Beginning at a marker(?) and stone in a road corner to Leo & Henry Barnes(?), thence with their line South 19 degrees West 38(?) poles to ---- run thence with the said run 80 poles to a branch w- ---- & rock in --- run corner to Strother Lillard, thence a straight line from the run 15 poles to a locust --- ---- South side of an old road, on the said Rowland Yowell's mill race, thence down the old road and bounded by the said road to the Beginning containing ten acres (be the same more or less) together with all and singular appertaining thereunto belonging as any --- appertaining To have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto him the said Dennis Corbin to and for the only proper use and behoof of him the said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns forever and the said Rowland Yowell & Sarah his wife and their heirs the aforesaid land and premises unto the said Dennis Corbin his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend unto the said Dennis Corbin, free from the claim or claims of them the said Rowland Yowell and Sarah his wife or either of them and from that of all manner of person or persons whatsoever who may claim -- --- through or under them the said Rowland Yowell and Sarah his wife. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of } Rowland Yowell {seal} Mordecai Brown Reubin White Sally Yowell {seal} Dennis Lillard Madison County to wit: We Daniel Field and William Finks Justices of the peace in the County aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that Rowland Yowell a party to a certain deed bearing date this fifth day of November hereunto ------- personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed, and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the clerk of the county court of Madison in order that the said deed may be recorded. Daniel Field {seal} William Finks {seal} Madison County to wit: We Daniel Field and William Finks Justices of the peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that Sarah Yowell wife of Rowland Yowell parties to a certain deed bearing date the 19th day of October 1831 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having this deed aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Sarah Yowell acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it.
