Marshall Yowell to his brother, Elijah Yowell [Transfer of Marshall's interest in their mother's dower property to Elijah] Recorded 28 June 1838, Madison Co., Virginia, Deed Book 14, p. 105-6 LDS Microfilm # 0032585 Whereas Marshall Yowell now living in the County of Page but formerly the County of Madison some twenty five or thirty years since sell to Elijah Yowell his brother all his Interest in his mothers dower property of which she might die possessed, and did execute to Elijah Yowell a written contract for the same but which paper has by some means or other been lost or misplaced therefore This Indenture made and entered into this 29th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty Eight Between Marshall Yowell of the County of Page and State of Virginia of the one part and Elija Yowell of the County of Madison and State of Virginia of the other part. Witness that the said Marshall Yowell for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty Pounds lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid when the former contract was made the precise time and the precise amount not recollected, but it is believed by the parties to be about that amount, doth hereby give and grant to the aforesaid Elijah Yowell all his ---- title and interest in the said dower property of every kind of which their mother Elizabeth Taylor formerly Elizabeth Yowell died possessed the said Elija Yowell To have and to Hold the same property in her possession from henceforth and further free from the claim or claims of him the said Marshall Yowell or of his heirs forever.
