Deed transaction: Roland Yowell to his son James M. Yowell Madison Co., Virginia, Deed Book 14, p. 229 [LDS Microfilm # 0032585] Recorded 24 October 1839 This Indenture made and entered into this 22nd day of October in the year 1839 Between Roland Yowell of the County of Madison and State of Virginia of the one part and James M. Yowell son of the said Roland Yowell also of the County of Madison and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessth that the said Roland Yowell for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he has for said Son has given and granted and by these presents does give, grant and convey unto him the said James M. Yowell his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land lying and being in the County of Madison and State of Virginia, containing Thirty Acres, being part of the Tract of Land on which the said Roland Yowell now lives, being lot No. 1 which was assigned to William S. Jones in the division of Champes old Tract of Land, and which was conveyed with other lands by Frances Thornton to the said Roland Yowell by Deed of record in the County Court of Madison County, which said Lot of Land is bounded by the Land of Thomas Shirley, the heirs of Lewis Yowell, and others. To have and To hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of Land unto him the said James M. Yowell his heirs and assigns forever and the said Roland Yowell does by these presents guarantee to him the said James M. Yowell his heirs and assigns forever ----- right and title to the said Land. In testimony whereof the said Roland Yowell has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date first in this Indenture written. Roland Yowell {seal} Madison County To wit We, Alexander H. Simms and Robert A. Banks Justices of the peace of the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia do hereby certify that Roland Yowell, a party to a certain deed bearing date on the 22nd day of October 1839 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of Madison County in order that the said Deed may be recorded.
