I James Newman, Jr. of the County of Madison and State of Virginia being in sound sense and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, do make and ordain this my ast will and testament, in order to bestow the worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with, in the manner of form following. Viz. I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary Newman all my lands, negros, stock of every kind, household and kitchen furniture, during her life. Item. I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary Newman a parcel of negroes now in my estate _____ with his wife Nan, and all of Nan's children that she ever had and one negro fellow named Moses they and all their increase to her and her heirs forever, to do with as she sees caused at her death or at any other time. Item. I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Newman all the tract of land I bought of George Field and his mother Mrs. Field, to do with as she pleases and at her own free disposal. Item. All the balance of my estate, land, negroes stock of every kind, household furniture until the death of my wife Mary Newman, she is to have peaceable possession as long as she lives, I give and bequeath unto my sister Patsey Henshaw's seven children to be equally divided among them and their heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath one negro girl in my estate by the name of Milinda to Mary Henshaw, daughter to my sister Patsey Henshaw, she and her increase to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath unto John Henshaw, son to my said sister, my old bay mare her and her increse to him forever. Lastly I constitute apoint and ordain my wife Mary Newman and Paschal Early Executris and executor of this my last will and testament.
