Barnes Cemetery Location: North of Bracey, Virginia 3 miles on Route #138, west side of lawn at Invermay Post Office, on dirt road. Mecklenburg County, Virginia DATE: About 1835. OWNERS: Mrs. David Boswell, and Mrs. Thomas Taylor. DESCRIPTION: This cemetery is in fair condition, except that the gate is down and the cows have damaged the large boxwood trees that are in it. The stones are in good condition, although, there are no stones later than 1871. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The tombstones which are as follows: Erected to the memory of Little Robert son of James & Alice Harriss Died Feb. 6, 1847 in his 8th year In memory of Capt. James Harriss who died in the Hope of the Glorious Gospel, Oct. 25, 1848 aged 49 years To the memory of Samuel H. Goode Born September 1803 died April 19th, 1855 Alice C. Goode born August 17, 1852 died Nov. 26, 1854 Sacred to the memory of our Mother Mary Ann Goode wife of Dr. Thomas Goode daughter of William & Mary Knox born in Philadelphia, December 17, 1797 died in Mecklenburg Co.
