George the Third &.c  To all &.c  Know ye that for divers good causes and 
Considerations but more especially for and in Consideration of the 
Sum of Forty Shillings of good and lawful money for our Use paid ~ 
to our Receiver General of our Revenues in this our Colony & Dominion 
of Virginia  We have given granted and confirmed and by these ~ 
Presents for us our Heirs and Sucessors Do give grant and confirm 
unto Robert HUTCHINGS one certain tract or parcel of land ~~ 
containing three hundred and seventy Acres lying and being in 
the County of Mecklenburg on the South Side of Roanoke River and ~ 
bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at STITH's ["Stiths"] corner Pointers 
on the River thence on his line South thirty degrees West twenty 
Poles to Pointers North eighty Degrees West one hundred and sixty

Poles crossing a branch to a white Oak, new lines South thirty degrees West 
two hundred Poles crossing a branch to a Pine South eighty degrees East ~ 
four hundred Poles crossing a small branch and Aaron's Creek to Pointers 
in Aaron PINSON's Line thence on his line North twenty degrees West one 
hundred and twenty four Poles crossing the said Creek to a red Oak North 
twenty five Degrees East eighteen Poles to a hickory on the River thence 
up the same as it meanders to the Beginning.  With all &.c  To have ~ 
hold &.c  To be held &.c  Yielding and Paying &.c  Provided &.c  In 
Witness &.c  Witness our Trusty and Welbeloved Norborne Baron de ~ 
Botetourt our Lieutenant and Governour General of our said Colony & 
Dominion at Williamsburg under the Seal of our said Colony the twelfth 
day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy in the tenth ~ 
year of our Reign.
