Stanford's Regt. of Militia in the action at Guildford and lost his leg. (Document is cut off and in two pieces. I do with the advice of Council hereby certify that Bartlett Cox , , late a soldier in the Militia of Mecklenburg whose pay was at the rate of 24 pounds per annum was disabled by a wound which required the amputation of his left leg while in the service of the United States as to entitle him to the sum of 18 pounds yearly, which allowance is accordingly made him , to commence from the 1st day of January 1786.
