These electronic pages CANNOT be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation.- Folliwing document was located in the Revolutionary War Land Bounty Claims filed in the Virginia State Library and Archives, Richmond, Virginia. "State of Illinois, Fayette County [?Sct ?Tct] Edward Elam of Bond County and State aforesaid being duly sworn says That he is the brother of Alexander Elam deceased. That he knows of the service and enlistment and service of said Alexander Elam for the term of one year. That said enlistment and service commenced during the first year of the War of the Revolution. That the officers as now recollected were James Anderson Captain and William Baskerville 1st Lieutenant the other officers are not now recollected. And this deponant further says that some months after the expiration of said full enlistment said Alexander again enlisted and served during the term of three years. Said Alexander was enrolled by Colonel Lewis Burrell but did not march away with him. The officers under whom said Alexander served during this second enlistment this deponent never knew. The aforesaid enlistments were made in the County of Mecklenburgh in the State of Virginia. In what Regiments Companies or Corps the aforesaid services were rendered this deponent never knew as this deponent at the time of the said first enlistment was about twelve years of age & further says not. Tct?] Edward Elam of the County of Bond and State aforesaid being duly sworn says that the facts set forth in the foregoing affidavit are true.
