Greene County, NC Courthouse
December 18, 1902, J.T. Phillips applied for a Marriage License for J.I. 
Puryear of Pitt Co. and Martha A. Davis of Greene Co. J.I. Puryear, age 33, 
white, was son of William G. Puryear, living, and Irana Puryear, living, 
residents of Mecklenburg Co., Va. Martha A. Davis, age 30, white, was daughter 
of Aleygood Jones, dead, and E.J. Jones, living, of Greene Co. On December 24, 
1902, J.I. Puryear and Martha A. Davis were married by J.M. Barfield, Free 
Will Baptist Minister, at Jesse Davis’ residence in Olds Township.

Witnesses were:  __.W. Prescott of Ayden, NC, A.E. Denton of Willowgreen, and 
W.W. Forrest of Ormondsville.
