These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. ================================================================== In the name of God, Amen, I William Maynard of Saint James’ Parish and Mecklenburg County being in Perfect Sence and Memory Praise be to god for the Same and do dispose of all my Worldly Goods and Estate in the manner and form as followeth To Wit - Imprimis I give to my Brother Wagstaff Maynard the Lower Part of My Island in running a (blank) Line from the fish Trap In Island Creek to the River and from the Fish Trap up to said Wagstaffs line. Item. I give also the Upper Tract of said Island beginning at the aforesaid line from the creek to the River To my Brother John Maynard. Together with all my High Land and Low grounds on the upper part of the aforesaid line. Item I give to my sister Frances Bedford my young Grey Mare known by name of Obscurity. Item I give to my sister Wynne My Sorrel Mare Known by name of Fly. Item I give to my sister Judah Gill my Sorrel Horse Known by name of Cupper. Item I give to my Sister Nancy Maynard my bay horse Colt Known by name of Jack. Item I give to My Sister Prudence Maynard my young Sorrel colt. Item I give to my Brother in Law James Bedford and Berrie Wynn all my stock of Cattle and Sheep one (blank) them and the other (blank) Choice. Item I give all my Stock of Hogs equally to be Divided among my three Sisters Frances Bedford Judah Gill and Mary Wynn. Item I give My Crop of Tobacco and all my Debts due me to be Equally Divided between my Mother Elizabeth Maynard and my Brother Wagstaff Maynard after they Paying all my just Debts. Item My will is that what what [sic] money I have on hand my Brother Wagstaff my Mother Elizabeth Maynard shall out of which Buy a Negro Fellow and give to my Brother John Maynard as a Ferryman and Provided there is not Money Sufficient they shall make it up out of my Debts Due me. In Witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 7th day of January 1792. William Maynard (seal) James Field Baxter Davis Absalom Crenshaw At a Court held for Mecklenburg County the 9th day of April 1792. This Will was proved by the Oaths of Baxter Davis, and Absalom Crenshaw Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded. And there being no executors named in the said Will on the motion of Wagstaff Maynard who made Oath and together with George Turry his Security entered into and Acknowledged Bond in the penalty of five hundred pounds as the law directs Certificate was granted him for obtaining Letters of Administration in the Estate of William Maynard decd. with his said Will Annexed in due form Teste John Brown Ct.
