A, 1819-1844 In the name of God Amen I Agrippa Dunn do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say... 1st I desire that such part of my perishable estate as is not hereafter bequeathed be sold immediately after my death and out of the monies arising therefrom all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid... 2nd I give to my wife Elizabeth Dunn fifty acres of my land on which I now live to include the houses and spring which fifty acres of land to laid off by my executors herein after named, one Negroe to be chosen by her my sd wife out of all my Negroes remaining at my decease her choice of one of my feather beds & furniture her choice of one cow and calf, a metal skillet which I now have if remaining at my death and a stone pitcher which I now also have to her and her heirs forever... 3rd My desire and will is that all my estate both real and personal not herein before named be sold at my decease by my executors and such credits as they shall think proper and the monies arising therefrom be divided in manner following that is to say... If at my decease my two grand children Cornelius Miller son of my deceased daughter Catharine Miller and Ann Shipley daughter of my deceased daughter Sally Shipley should be both living, my will and desire is that the monies arising from the sales of my estate as before directed he divided into seven equal parts; if neither of my said grand children Cornelius Miller and Ann Shipley should be living at my decease my will and desire is that the monies arising at aforesaid be divided into four equal parts; and if either one of my said grandchildren Cornelius Miller and Ann Shipley be living at my decease then my will and desire is the monies arising as aforesaid be divided into six equal parts. 4th I give one part of the money arising as aforesaid, after being divided as above directed to my daughter Alice Parks to her and her heirs forever. 5th I give one other part of the money arising as aforesaid, after being divided as above directed to my daughter Maria Watts to her and heirs forever. 6th My will and desire is that the remaining parts of the monies arising as aforesaid after being divided as aforesaid, be equally divided among my surviving grand children Permenta Thurston, Zoriade Thurston, Anna Thurston and Jefferson Thurston children of my deceased daughter Polly Thurston, William Gardner, James Gardner, Elliott Gardner, Leroy Gardner, Larkin Gardner and Frances Gardner children of my deceased daughter Elizabeth Gardner, William Dunn and Elizabeth Dunn children of my deceased son Nuble Dunn, Cornelius Miller son of my deceased daughter Catharine Miller and Ann Shipley daughter of my deceased daughter Sally Shipley which I give to them and their hers forever. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friends George Garrett and Rich'd M. Segar executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills and testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereinto set my hand and affixed my seal this 6th day of August 1811. Witnesses: William Watts, John Watts and Travis Charles Codicil... In consequence of the death of my daughter Maria Watts and her child my will and desire is that hat portion of my estate willed to her and her heirs be divided in six equal parts, one part of which I give to my daughter Alice Parks to her and her heirs forever and the other parts to be equally divided among my grand children named in the body of this my will which I give to them and their heirs forever. Item I give further to my beloved wife her choice of a chest which I may leave it at my decease to her and her heirs forever. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 31st Dec'r 1811. Witnesses: Charles Lee, John G. Willis and Samuel Ware At a Court held for Middlesex County at the Courthouse in the town of Urbanna on Monday the 22nd day of November 1813 this last will and testament was produced in court and proved by the witnesses thereto; and the Codicil to the said will proved by its witnesses. Richard M. Segar and George Garrett qualified as executors and the will was recorded. ==================== We the apriaisers being duly sworn have Proceeded to aprase the property belonging to the estate of Agrippa Dunn dec'd this 30 day of Nov: 1813 175 acres in the Creek Plantation, $1500 58 acres adjoining the road, 232 69 acres in the old Mill Track, 216.66 1 negro man named Frank, 250 1 negro woman named Milly, 10 1 negro woman named Rachel, 40 1 negro man named Lewis, 400 1 negro man named Jerry, 400 1 negro woman & child named Amy & Clary, 300 1 negro girl named Lousia, 200 1 negro boy named Carter, 150 1 negro girl named Maia, 180 1 negro girl named Mary, 100 The remainder of his personal property including household and farming equipment, livestock, crops and a pair of oyster tongs were sold.
