BILLS Of Virginia John E. Bills was born in 1763 in Hampshire County, Virginia. While residing in Hampshire County he enlisted in the fall of 1779 and served in Captain Henry Enoch's Virginia company. Captain Enoch was an uncle of the soldier. He was on duty up and down the Ohio River. He enlisted again in 1782 and served in Captain Joseph. Berry's Virginia Company guarding prisoners at Winchester Barracks. He applied for pension in 1833, when he was residing in Hardy County, Va., a division of Hampshire County. He died July 9, 1852, at his residence in Wood County, Va. He married July 2, 1818, in Hardy County, Va., Mary Reel. The widow was allowed pension on her application in 1853, when she was a resident of Wood County where she had then lived about seven years.
