Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia , at Richmond is this 1st day of July 1788. Edm: Randolph Copy teste: T. Meriwether I certify that Francis Boyd was a soldier in my company at the Action at Brandywine at the year 1777 and was wounded and taken prisoner.
