He served as a midshipman in the Virginia State Navy. A land bounty was given in 1834 to his children, namely: Catherine, who married _____ Crane; Margaret, who married ____ Moore; Mary, who married _____ Duffield; John; and the two children of a deceased daughter Elizabeth who married Benjamin Pendleton. Note:- The children of Elizabeth Strother Pendleton were Benjamin S. Pendleton, James W. Pendleton, and Catherine Pendleton who married John Bailey Nicklin.
