He received a wound in the thigh at the action of Short Halls in Jersey in 1777 besides which in escaping ____ from the enemy he received a hurl which occasioned a rupture. He was put on the pension list in 1779. You will be so obliging as to examine the situation and refer it to the Board. I am your humble servant: James Wood I do with the advice of the Council hereby certify that Joshua Younger, aged about 34 years, late a private in the 12th Virg Regt. whose pay was at the rate of 24 pounds per annum was disabled while in the service of the United States by a hurl which occasioned a rupture and that he is entitled to the sum of six pounds yearly to commence from the first day of January 1786.
