Sessler/Brown Deed, 1852 Montgomery Co VA Deed Book 1852:241. This deed made the 25th day of December in the year one thousand eighteen hundred & fifty-two, between JOHN B SESSLER of Montgomery County and State of Virginia of the one part, and HENRY C BROWN of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witneseth that in consideration of the sum of Twenty-three Hundred Dollars the said John B Sessler doth grant unto the said Henry C Brown two certain tracts or parcels of land lying and being in the County of Montgomery on the south fork of the Roanoke. THE FIRST TRACT containing 100 acres more or less, bounded as followeth (viz) Beginning at two white oaks in a line of James Woods' land (near Thos Brown's), thence running with a conditional line made by Thomas Raybourn & Henry Haws a northerly course to a locust stand near the public road, thence eastwardly with said conditional line a direct course to a walnut and locust sapling on the bank of the creek (marked), thence to continue the same direction as far as Raybourn's survey of 500 acres extend eastwardly, thence taking the patent line of said tract round to and with a line of James Woods (now Thos Brown's) to the beginning. THE SECOND TRACT bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at three white oaks corner to Thos Brown's land also corner to the land known the Jeter survey of which this is a part, thence with the line of said survey N27 W52 po to a white oak and black oak, thence N51 W42 to a white oak and on the side of a ridge, thence N72 W76 po to two white oaks on a hill side, thence N20 W74 po to two white oaks on a ridge, thence leaving said lines and with the top of the ridge S46 W68 po to a black oak, thence S40 E114 po to two white oaks and black oak, thence S24 E100 po to two black oaks on a line of Thos Brown's land, thence with said line N55 E108 po to the beginning, containing 1012 acres more or less. To have and to hold the above named tract or parcels of land unto him the said Henry C Brown and his heirs forever, and the said John B Sessler for himself and his heirs the said tracts or parcels of land unto the said Henry C Brown and his heirs against the claim of lien, the same John B Sessler his heirs and against the claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend them by these presents to witness the following signature and seal the day and year first above written.
