Grissom/Grissom Deed, 1804 - Montgomery Co. VA (Deed Book I-J 1824-27 Montgomery Co., VA Reel 5 Page 121 Library of Virginia) Whereas, I, David Grissom of the state of Ohio and county of Warren (late of Montgomery County and state of Virginia) the son and heir of Robert Grissom dec'd who died intestate - being entitled to one moiety of the land whereon the said Robert Grissom died of which he was possessed the same being undivided, have this day bargained and sold unto Catharine Grissom of the county of Montgomery and State of Virginia, my interest in and proportion of the said undivided moiety of land lying on the headwater of Stroubles Creek as above. These are therefore to declare and by these presents I do declare, that for and in consideration of one dollar to me in hand paid the rest whereof I do hereby acknowledge_that I have bargained and sold and by these presents doth relinquish and assign and grant unto the said Catharine Grissom, her heirs, Executors or assigns all my right, title, interest,claim, proportion or share of or to said land warranting and defending the same against me, my heirs, Executors or assigns and all and every person claiming under me or otherwise claiming the same. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of October eighteen hundred and four. Attest David Grissom (Seal) James P. Preston William Black John Black At Montgomery July court 1805. This deed from David Grissom to Catharine Grissom was proved in court by the oath of James P. Preston a witness thereto and continued for further proof and at October court 1824 the same was further proved by the oath of John Black another witness thereto and continued for further proof and in the Clerks office of the said court the 8th day of August 1825 the same was acknowledged by the said David Grissom as his act and deed and admitted to record.
