Grissom/Robinson Deed, 1825 - Montgomery Co. VA (Deed Book I-J 1824-1827 Page 25 Reel 5 LVA) This Indenture made the 8th day of January in the year of our Lord 1825 between William Grissom and Polly, his wife, of the county of Montgomery, of the one part, and John Robinson, of the said county, his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars lawful money of the United States to them in hand paid by the said John Robinson at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said John Robinson, his heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation Thirty acres be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Montgomery aforesaid on the waters of Stroubles Creek being the same tract or parcel of land which was conveyed to the said William Grissom by William Thomas attorney in fact of Ann Price and Henry Price of the county of Preble and State of Ohio by deed of bargain and sale bearing date the 5th Day of November 1824 reference being had to said deed more fully will appear. Together with all and singular the appurtenances and conversion and increases remainder and remainders and of every part and parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land with the tenements hereof mentioned and all and singular the premises herein before mentioned or intended to be bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with every of their rights, members and appurtenances to the said John Robinson, his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said John Robinson his heirs and assigns forever. And the said William Grissom and Polly, his wife, for themselves and their heirs the said tract or parcel of land with all and singular the premises and appurtenances before mentioned, unto the said John Robinson, his heirs and assigns forever from the claim or claims of them-the said William Grissom and Polly, his wife, their heirs and every person or persons whatever shall, will and do warrant and forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof the said William Grissom and Polly, his wife, have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. Signed,sealed and delivered Wm. Grissom (Seal) in the presence of Polly x Grissom (Seal) Her Mark Wit: John Hoge and William Thomas, Justices of the Peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that William Grissom a party to a certain deed bearing date the 8th day of January 1825 and hereto annexed personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed, and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the clerk of the county court of Montgomery in order that the said deed be recorded. Thomas (Seal) Wit: John Hoge and William Thomas, Justices of the Peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that Polly Grissom, the wife of William Grissom, parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 8th day of January 1825 and hereunto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and being examined by us privily and apart from her husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained to her, she, the said Polly Grewsome acknowledged the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had willingly signed, sealed and delivered the same and that she wished not to retract it.
