SAMUEL PACK Land Grant, 1799 James Wood Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. To all to whom these presents shall come, Greetings. Know ye that by virtue of two Land Office Treasury Warrants Numbers, Eleven Thousand and Fifty Nine & Seven Thousand Five Hundred and Eighty Seven, there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto SAMUEL PACK by survey bearing date the twenty first day of June, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Five, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing one hundred and thirty five acres, lying and being in the County of Montgomery on New River above the mouth of big Blue Stone and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a lynn and sycamore on the bank of the river and down the same and binding thereon four hundred and forty five poles to two elm saplings and a buckeye at the mouth of the Bluestone, thence up the same, south seventy four degrees, west nineteen poles to a buckeye and sugar tree on the bank, south fifteen degrees, east three poles to a sugar tree corner of David Frazier’s survey and with the line thereof, south thirty nine degrees, east fifty nine poles to a hickory a corner thereof and two beech trees, south thirty nine degrees, west fifty two poles to two red oaks and chestnut, north ninety one degrees, west fifty eight poles crossing Pipestem Creek to a beech, hickory and maple on the banks, thence up the same, south seven degrees, west fifty two poles to two spruce pines, south thirteen degrees, west fifty eight poles to a poplar and lynn under a cleft, south forty nine degrees, west twenty four poles to a sugar tree and elm sapling, south four degrees, west twenty eight poles, to two white oaks, south nineteen degrees, east twenty poles to white oak and spruce pine on hill side, north forty eight degrees, east one hundred and thirty eight poles crossing the bank to two large white oaks on a hill side, south seventy two degrees, east forty poles to a beech and oak, north sixty eight degrees, east forty eight poles to a poplar and two lynns on the side of the river ridge and along the same, south sixty four degrees, easty sixty two poles to a buckeye, sugar tree and oak, south fifty seven degrees, east eighty poles to a buckeye and lynn, south forty three degrees, east sixty four poles to a beech and ask, south twenty degrees, east sixty poles to a white oak and hickory, south thirty degrees, easty twenty four poles to a large white oak and chestnut-oak, south thirteen degrees, easty twenty four poles to an ash and chestnut-oak, south twenty eight degrees, east one hundred and six poles to a beech and sugar tree sapling, east twenty poles to a red oak, hickory and two sugar trees on the branch of the river thence down the river and binding thereunto the beginning. With its appurtenances; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and its appurtenances to the said SAMUEL PACK and his Heirs forever Intestate whereof the said James Wood Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the fourteenth day of March, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine and of the Commonwealth the twenty third.
