VA - Deed Book K; pg. 265 Elswick Thompson, Grantor to Archabald Thompson, Grantee This Indenture made this the 26th day of February One Thousand eight hundred and twenty nine, between Elswick Thompson of the county of Montgomery and state of Virginia of the one part, and Archabald Thompson of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesth that the above said Elswick for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained and sold and by these present do bargain and sell deliver and ??????? unto the above said Archabald Thompson and his heirs forever, one certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres be the same more or less, it lying and being in the county of Montgomery on Little River and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a white oak on the side of a steep ridge and running thence N77 W 46 (or 40) poles to two small black okes on ridge N 14 w 53 poles to a white oak on a flat ridge S 64(?) W 79 p. to chestnut on a ridge S 5W =73 p. to a chestnut oake and poplar on a ridge S 48 W 44 po. to a while pine by a path near a clift of rocks on the sides of the river hill thence running up the river to a conditional line, thence with the conditional line to the beginning. To have and to hold the above said land and premises with the appurtenances those unto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the above said Archabald Thompson and his heirs forever, and the above said Elswick Thompson shall and warrant and forever defend a good and lawful right and title to the above said land against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the above said Elswick Thompson has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and date above written. We Henry Edmondson and Jacob Helms Justices of the Peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby certify that Elswick Thompson a party to a certain deed bearing date on the 26 day of February 1829 and hereto a??????? personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify that said acknowledgement to the clerk of our county court of Montgomery in order that the said deed may be recorded.
