Sarah Breckenridge, dau of George and Ann (Doak) Breckenridge married Robert Findley [other reports say she married John Finley]. . . they were living in Southwest VA in 1777. Some of their descendants lived in East TN (James Malcolm Breckenridge, William Clark Breckenridge: His Life, Lineage and Writings. 1932, p. 130), p. 6. Note: George and Ann Breckenridge were neighbors of my ancestor, John Finley (most likely John #2) of Montgomery/ Wythe County, VA. Shortly after Robert's marriage, he moved southward with his wife down the valley of the Holston River to the western border of NC . . . children said to be Thankful, Sarah, John Robert, Ann, Margaret and James, b. 1796 in Blount County, TN. James married Margaret Pickens in 1816 in TN, . . . other children remained single, p. 6. Note: Whitley's Marriages in Blount County show this marriage 15 February 1816. Other Finley marriages in Blount County for the period 1795-1859 range from 1822 to 1849 (Albert, James K., John, John M., Joseph W., Samuel S. and Robert). John Finley in War of 1812 from Blount County . . . probably elder brother of James. He authorized Thomas Henderson of Blount to receive his pay (National Archives), p. 7. Robert Findley had large holding on Nail's Creek and was taxed for 300 acres in1801. Sold 271 acres to Alexander Shadden in 1818/14 January 1820 (recorded?), p. 7. Robert and Sarah probably died a few years after selling this property and wereburied in Eusebia Cemetery, p. 7.
