Beamer Jr. CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- George Leslie Beamer Jr., 72, passed was Saturday, March 15, 2002, at New River Valley Medical Center. Born in Narrows, Va., the son of the late George Leslie Sr. and Mary Sanders Beamer, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, former chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party and was a member of the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church and the Montgomery County Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife, Libby Beamer; children, George Leslie Beamer III and wife Susie, John Lewis Beamer and wife Desiree, all of Christiansburg, James William Beamer and wife Betsy of Richmond, and Richard Brian Beamer and wife Amy, Cincinnati; grandchildren, George, James, Elisabeth, J.W., Rachel, Katelyn, Laura, Anna, Jessica and Julie. It was his request there be no visitation. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery conducted by Dr. Don Makin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, 107 W. Main St., Christiansburg, VA 24073 or to the Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands, Wytheville, VA. The Beamer Family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg.
