Shilling/King Marriage Record, 1817 - Montgomery Co. VA Know all men by these presents that we Jacob Shilling and John King are held and firmly bound unto James P. Preston, Esquire, governing or chief magistrate of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the amt. and full sum of One hundred and fifty dollars the payment whereof well and truly to be made to the said governor and his sucef(?) for the use of the Commonwealth we bind our selves heirs for jointly and severally family by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 30th day of June 1817. The condition of the above oblication is such that whereas there is a marriage intended to be shortly had and so lemnized(?) between the above named Jacob Shilling and Elizabeth King (daughter of the above named John King).
