Will of John Brown, 1859 Will Book 9, page 400 I, John Brown, of the county of Montgomery, do make this my last will and testament. I will and devise the whole of my estate real and personal to my wife Sally Brown during her widowhood and the support and maintenance of our two children Polly Jane Brown and William P Brown, and after her death or marriage I give to my son William P Brown my track of land adjoining the lands of George Keister, David Charlton and others, and my home track. I will and devise to my daughter Polly Jane Brown all the personal property remaining on hand at the termination of my wife's life estate, to be equally divided between the said Polly Jane and William P Brown. I owe very little, but hereby empower my executrix and executor, hereafter named, to rent out so much of my lands as (they) may think necessary to pay my debts. Having made provisions for my children by my first marriage, these are not to have any portion of my property I now possess. I do hereby constitute my wife Sally and my friend Jordan Murdock executrix and executor of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 3rd February 1859. John Brown Attest A P Eskridge DWS Charlton In Montgomery County Court September Term 1862 this last will and testament of John Brown was presented in court and proven by the oath of A P Eskridge and DWS Charlton, the witnesses thereto subscribed, and ordered to be recorded. And on the motio of Jordan Murdock who made his oath, and together with Elijah G Murdock, his security entered into and acknowledged as the law directs. A certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
