Will of John Brown Lucas, 1919 I, J.B. Lucas, of Graysontown Montgomery County, Virginia, do hereby make this my last will and testament revoking all other will heretofore made by me: First: I want all my just debts paid should I owe any at the time of my death. Second: I give and devise to my daughter Mary Brown Lucas my home place at Graysontown, on which I now live containing about 72 ½ acres together with all my house hold and kitchen furniture, all farming tools, my team, harness, and wagons, and three cows, she owns two, this will give her 5 cows, and all grain and feedstuff on the place, I also give and devise to her ½ of my Pulaski tract of land supposed to contain 20 acres, which is just across the River from my home place. I also give her my 14 shares of stock in Bank of Riner, Va. that cost me $700.00. Third: I give, and devise to Mrs. Emma A. Wilson the other ½ interest in my Pulaski land, and also give her my ten shares of stock in Farmers and Merchants Bank of Radford, Va. That cost me $250.00. I have heretofore deeded Emma A. Wilson 40 acres of land and advanced her $800.00. Fourth: I hereby direct that my tract of land near Riner, Va., known as the Geo. Surface home place and a small tract adjoining the same bought from my son W.J. Lucas, be sold by my executor herein afterwards named and the proceeds of sale be divided between my daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Akers and the heirs at law of my son W.J. Lucas, one half going to my daughter and one half to said heirs, except that my daughter Mrs. Elizabeth F. Akers is to receive $1164.46 from the proceeds of sale, before the heirs of my son W.J. Lucas receive anything as I have advanced to W.J. Lucas this amount in his live time. I also give to my daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth F. Akers my stock in the Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. of Roanoke, Va. I hereby nominate and appoint Samuel A. Scott, Executor of this my last will and testament, with power to sell and convey the real estate herein directed to be sold and distribute the proceeds as above directed. My said executor will also sell all of my personal estate not disposed of under this will, and from the proceeds of sale he will pay all debts against my estate and cost of Administration of said estate and the residue he will........... Lucas, said heirs getting the share that would go to their father if he were living. Should I not have sufficient personal property to pay my debts, burial expenses and cost of Administration, I then charge 1/4 of the shortage to the property will my daughter Mary Brown Lucas, 1/4 to the property will my daughter Mrs. Emma A. Wilson, 1/4 to the property will my daughter Mrs. Elizabeth F. Akers and 1/4 to the property I will the heirs of my son W.J. Lucas.
