Will of Mary Douglas Wade, 1864 Montgomery Co., Superior Court Will Book CC-1 `In the name of God amen. I Mary Wade of Montgomery County being of `sound mind d o make and publish this my last will and testement hereby `revoking all or any fo rmer will or wills. I give and bequieth my `slaves now born , or hereafter to be born, their freedom forever and I `desire my executors to remove them to such no n-slave holding state, `or country as they may select. They are however to be hi red out by `my said executors foremerly until a sufficent sum of money is raised `to defray the expenses of the ir removal. I trust that in no event `will my slaves be required to leave Virgin ia until this unhappy war `is ended. I devise unto my nephew, Hamilton D. Wade i n fee simple `all of my real estate situate with the exception of that portion `lying on the south of the turnpike leading from Christianberg to the `Depot. I d evise unto Mrs Carloine Anderson , Mrs Lizzie Jones and my `nephew John T. Wade i n fee simple jointly fifteen acres of this land `on the south side of the Turnpik e to be taken off the end adjoining `the lands of fredrich Kyle in the direction of Christianburg. The `residue of the land, on the south side of the turnpike is to be sold `by my excutors and the proceeds applied, under the direction of Hami `lton Wade to the repair of my dwelling house and such of the out `houses as may n eed repairs. I desire that Miss julet and Miss Mary `Morrison shall be permitted , if they desire it to remain o! n th e `farm as heretofore and they shall be intitled to a confortable support `durin t heir lifetime out of the proceeds off the farm. I give and `bequieth unto Miss m iss Julet Morrison and to Marry Morrison `respectively all of the funiture in the rooms respectively occupied by `them, I give Ten Dollars per year, for ten year s, to the methodist `Minister who may be in charge of the Methodist Church in Chr `istianburg. I give unto Hamilton D. Wade all the residue of my `personial estate not herein desposed of. I desire that all my just `debts be paid and that no i nventory or appraisement be made. Should `Hamilton D. Wade die or be killed duri ng this war, I desire that the `Estate devised and bequiethed to him may nephew J ohn T. Wade in fee `simple. I appoint Eldred R. Anderson and Hamilton D. Wade ex cutors `to this my last will and testement.
