     Robert BENNETT, patent, 700 acres, 18 Aug 1637

              To all to whome these p'sents shall come I S.r John Harvey 
              K.t  Govern.r &c doe w.th the Consent of the Councell of 
 Robert       State accordingly give and grannt Unto Robert Bennett 
  Bennett     Seaven hundred acres of land Scituate lying and being 
              in the Uper Countie of New Norfolke being about a 
              mile and a halfe Up a Creeke neare the Mouth of 
              Nansamund river and begining at a pine marked 
              w.th the Letters of his name (Vizt) RB bordering 
              Upon a p'cell of land marked by Robert Newman 
    Exm'd     Upon the East side of the said Creeke the Creeke 
              runing up South or neare thereabouts from the river 
              The Said Seaven hundred acres of land being due 
              Unto him the Said Robert Bennett by and for the 
              transportac'on at his owne p'per costs and charges 
              of fowerteene p'sons into this Colony whose names 
              are in the records menc'oned Under this pattent To 
              have and to hold &c dated the 18.th of August 1637

[This tract had been granted 20 Jun 1635 (ibid, pp. 188-89) by Gov. John West. 
 It is unclear why this duplicate patent was issued, but the legitimacy of 
 West's tenure may have been in question. West was elected by the Council as 
 successor to Sir John Harvey, and Harvey was reinstated by the Crown in 1637.
 The transportees for whom Bennett claimed headrights are the same, although 
 the names are rendered differently.]
