Nansemond County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records 
     merchant Peter KNIGHT, patent, 400 acres, 18 Nov 1638 

            To all to whome these p'sents shall come I S.r John HarVey K.t 
            K.t Govern.r &c send &c whereas &c Now Know yee 
 Peter      that I the said S.r John HarVey K.t doe w.th the consent 
  Knight    of the Councell of State accordingly give and grannt 
            Unto Peter Knight Merchant fower hundred acres of 
   400      land Scituate lying and being in the Upper Countie of 
            New Norfolke in a Creeke of the South East side  of 
    Exm'd   Nansamund river and on the East Side of the Creeke 
            about three miles Up the Said Creeke runing Up Southerly 
            begining at a little Creeke and runing Easterly into the 
            woods lying over against the land of Richard Bennett 
            and Joyning to the Land of Robert Bennett  The Said 
            fower hundred acres of land being due Unto him the Said 
            Peter Knight  by Assignment from Thomas Burbage 
            Merchant  To have and to hold &c dated the 18.th of 
            November 1618  Ut in al˙s
