Nansemond County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records 
     merchant George LUDLOWE, patent, 500 acres, 31 Aug 1638 

            To all to whome these p'sents shall come I S.r John HarVey 
            K.t  Govern.r &c send &c whereas &c Now Know yee that I 
            the Said S.r John HarVey doe w.th the consent of the Councell 
M.r  George of State accordingly give and grannt Unto M.r George Ludlowe merch.t 
  Ludlowe   five hundred acres of land Scituate lying and being in Nansamund 
    500     river  w.th in the Upper Countie of New Norfolke on the back Side 
            of Francis Maulden his Land butting South Upon the Westerne 
            branch of the river North into the woods and North West from 
    Exmd:   Francis Mauldens Land into the woods (the Said five hundred 
            acres of Land being due Unto him the Said Georg Ludlowe 
            by and for the transportac'on of tenn p'sons into this Colony 
            whose names are in the Records menc'oned Under this pattent 
            To have and to hold &c dated at James Cittie the last day 
            of August 1638 Ut in al˙s
