Nansemond County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records 
     William EYRES, patent, 100 acres, 18 Feb 1638/9 

              To all to whome these p'sents shall come I S.r John Harvey 
William        K.t  Govern.r &c  send &c  whereas &c  Now Know yee 
 Eyres        that I the Said S.r John Harvey K.t  doe w.th the consent 
   100        of the Councell of State accordingly give and grannt 
              Unto William Eyres one hundred acres of Land Scituate lying 
              and being in the Chuckatucke river w.th in the Upper Countie of 
              New Norfolke bounded East and by North Upon the land of 
    Exm'd     Georg Salsbury and now in his possession west and by South 
              Upon his owne land South and by East into the woods and North 
              and by west Upon the maine Creeke The Said one hundred acres 
              of Land being due Unto him the Said William Eyres by and 
              for the transportac'on of twoe p'sons into this Colony whose 
              names are in the Records menc'oned Under this pattent To 
              have and to hold &c  dated the 18.th of February  Anno dom'i 
              1638  Ut in alÿs
