Nansemond County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records 
     William STOREY, patent, 250 acres, 22 May 1643 

            To all to whome these p'sents shall come I S.r William 
            Berkeley K.t Govern.r &c whereas &c Now Know 
William     yee that I the Said S.r William Berkeley K.t doe w.th 
  Storey    the consent of the Councell of State accordingly 
   250      give and grannt Unto William Storey twoe hundred 
            and fiftie acres of land Scituate lying and being in 
            the County of Upper Norfolke Upon the Westerne 
            branch of Nansamund river begining at an oake 
            marked w.th twoe notches on each Side and runing [illegible] for 
    Exmd:   length and South East for breadth  The Said twoe hundred 
            and fiftie acres being due Unto him the Said William 
            Storey by and for the transportac'on of five p'sons into 
            this Colony  To have and to hold &.c To bee held &.c 
            Yeilding and paying Unto o.r Said Soveraigne Lord the 
            King his heires and Successo.rs for every fiftie acres 
            of land herein by these p'sents given and grannted 
            yearely at the feast of S.t Michaell the Arch'ell the 
            fee rent of one shilling to his Maj.ties Use, which paym.t 
            is to bee made Seaven yeares after the date of these presents 
            Provided &.c Given &.c this twoe and twentieth of May 1643
