Nansemond County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Land Records 
     Thomas MOUNFORD, patent, 200 acres, 5 Mar 1646/7 

                                                                       [p.] 99 

         To all &c  Whereas &c  Now Know yee that I the Said S.r William 
         Berkeley Kn.t doe with Advice and Consent of the Councill of State 
         Accordingly give and grant unto Thomas Mounford his heirs & 
         assignes for Ever  two hundred Acres of Land being in the County 
         of New Norfolk Upon the western branch of Nansimum river 
         begining upon a little Creeke runing for Length East South East 
         Extending for breadth South South west being or adjoyning on a 
         percell of Land of William Stories the Said two hundred Acres 
         of Land being formerly granted Richard Heynes by patt 
         bearing Date the 16.th of December 1640 and by him Sold unto ~ 
         Thomas Hamond as by Deed Dated y.e 9.th day of October 1643 and 
         Sold by the Said Hamond unto John freebody as appeareth by Deed 
         the 23.d of December 1646 and purchased by the Said Mounford of 
         the Said freebody as appeareth by Deed the 30.th of December 1646 
         the Said Land being due unto the Said Richard Heynes by and 
         for the Transportation of four persons into the Colony whose 
         Names are in the records Mentioned under the Said patent, To 
         have and to hold &c to be held &c Yeilding and paying &c which paym:t 
         is to be Made Seven yeares after the Date of the 16.th of Decemb.r 
    Ex   1640 and not before &c provided &c Dated the 5.th of March 1646
