SHEPHERD to Aaron PRUDEN Deed of Bargain & Sale July 14, 1879 * * * * * * * * Nansemond Co., VA, Deed Book 7 (1878-1879), page 506 This deed made this 17th day of May 1879 between John Shepherd and Nancy E. Shepherd his wife, of the one part, of Isle of Wight County State of Virginia, and Aaron Pruden of Nansemond County Va. of the other part, Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Five hundred and fifty dollars $550.00 this day paid in the hands of the said John Shepherd by Aaron Pruden the said John Shepherd and Nancy E. his wife doth grant unto the said Aaron Pruden a certain tract of land situated in the County of Nansemond containing one hundred and sixteen acres more or less and bounded as follows. On the north by Davises Creek and on the east by (Exum Caustarphen), on the south by the main road leading from Cherry Grove to Chuckatuck on the west by Aaron Pruden. The same lands being the same purchased by the said Jno. Shepherd from Wm. G. Williams. The parties of the first part covenant that they have a right to convey the said lands and do hereby warrant generally the right and the title to the same. Waddill, a Notary Public for the County of Isle of Wight and State of Virginia do hereby certify that John Shepherd and Nancy E. Shepherd his wife, whose names are signed to the writing above bearing date 17th of May, 1879, personally appeared before me in the County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be (there) act and the said Nancy E. Shepherd being examined by me privily and apart from her husband, and having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Nancy E.
