     James LOWRY, patent, 43 acres, 25 Apr 1701 


               To all &c:a  Whereas &c:a  Now know yee that I y.e s:d Francis - 
               Nicholson Esq:r Govern:r et:a do with y.e advice & Consent of y:e 
               Councill of state accordingly give & grant James Lowry 
               forty three acres of Land scituate Lying & being on y.e upper 
               Pish of Nansemond County on y.e Northward side of y.e - 
               Southerne branch of Nansemond river. Begining at a pine 
               a Corner tree of M:r Henry Plumptons Land & running thence 
               North westerly twenty Seven deg:s twenty three pole bounding 
               on y.e s:d Plumpton to a Black Oake reputed Corner tree 
               of Richard Sanders his Land thence South westerly Seventy 
               four degrees east fifty five pole bounding on y.e s:d Sanders his 
               Land to a red Oake a Corner tree of a patent formerly granted 
               Thomas Mountford thence South Easterly twenty two deg:s 
               Eighty Seven pole bounding on y.e s:d Mountfort to a 
               white Oake a Corner tree of Thomas Norfleets Land - 
               thence North Easterly Sixty Seven deg:s East one hund:d & fifty 
               pole bounding on y.e s:d Norfleet to a Hiccory standing 
               in or near a Line of y.e s:d Plumptons Land thence bounding 
               on y.e s:d Plumptons Line to y.e first menc'oned station y.e s:d 
               Land being due unto y.e s:d James Lowry by & for y.e s:transpor 
               =tac'on of one person into this Colony. whose name is to be 
               in y.e records mentioned under this patent. To have & to hold 
    Ex.a       &c:a  to be held &c:a  Yielding & paying &c:a  provided &c.a
