RIDDICK To John SHEPHERD Nansemond Co., VA, Deed Book 34 (1893-1895), page 115 February 20, 1894 * * * * * * * * This deed made the 20th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four between Burwell Riddick and Ada B. Riddick his wife of the County of Nansemond in the State of Virginia of the one part, and John Shepherd of the same County and State of the other part, Witnesseth: That in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and fifty (750) dollars the said Burwell Riddick and Ada B. Riddick his wife do grant with general warranty, unto the said John Shepherd and to his heirs and assigns forever, the following real estate, to-wit: All that certain lot or parcel of land situated on the east side of North Street in the town of Suffolk in said County and State, fronting on said Street fifty (50) feet and running back eastward therefrom on the north side ninety-four (94) feet and on the south side one hundred (100) feet, to the land of Sarah C. Nurney and bounded on the north by the land of George T. Holland, on the east by the land of Sarah C. Nurney, on the south by the land of Martha J. Johnson, and on the west by the said Street, and being forty-six (46) feet and eight (8) inches wide across the rear end and being part of the land which by deed dated the 9th day of December A.D. 1890, and recorded the 12th day of December A.D.1890 on page 258 in deed book No. 24, in the office of the Clerk of the County Court of said County, was sold and conveyed by John F. Pinner and wife unto said Burwell Riddick together with all and singular appurtenances belonging to the same. And the said Burwell Riddick covenants that he had the right to convey the said land to the said grantee, that the said grantee shall have quiet possession of the said land free from all encumbrances; that he has done no act to encumber the said land; and that he will execute such further assurances of the said land as may be requisite. Kilby, a Commissioner in Chancery, of the Circuit Court for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia, do certify that Burwell Riddick and Ada B. Riddick, his wife whose names are signed to the writing above, bearing date on the 20th day of January, 1894, have acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid.
