GENEVA GREEN ASBELL 

  Mrs. Geneva Green Asbell, 88, of 400 S. Main St. died Thursday at 1:50 p.m. 
in Nansemond Convalescent Center.

  She was a native of Gates County, N.C., a daughter of the late Henry and 
Mrs. Laura Brown Green and the widow of William Jessie Asbell Sr.  She was 
a member of First Baptist Church.

  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Geneva A. Walsh, and two sons, William 
J. Asbell Jr. and Ralph M. Asbell, all of Suffolk; 13 grandchildren; and 22 
great-grandchildren.

  A funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in I.O. Hill & Co. Funeral Home 
by the Rev. Wayne W. Poplin.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
