All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Austin Funeral services for Mrs. Girliema [sic; Gulielma] Byrd Austin, 78, of Whaleyville, who died yesterday at 12:35 p.m. after a long illness, will be conducted at Liberty Spring Christian Church tomorrow at 3:30 o'clock by Dr. Jesse H. Dollar and Dr. I.W. Johnson. Wife of the late Willis H. Austin and daughter of the late Elvy and Mary Porter Byrd, of Nansemond County, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. N.W. Byrd and Miss Mary V. Austin, of Whaleyville; one son, W. Elmer Austin, of Whaleyville; one brother, I.T. Byrd, of Holland; two step-daughters, Mrs. E.C. Cross, of Portsmouth, and Mrs. W.F. Hayes, of Girdletree, Md.; several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the I.O. Hill Funeral Home where it will remain until 2:15 p.m. tomorrow, when it will be taken to the church for services. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
